Goal Setting your lipoedema legs will love

Imagine having a goal that is not weight or appearance related, for me this has never crossed my mind. I have always been one of those people who go to the gym because I want to look a certain way. My goals over the years have been as follow:

Get a 6 pack (impossible because I have Lipoedema on my tummy) Get a nice perky booty (again pretty impossible) Ged rid of my cellulite (do I really need to explain this one?) Tone my whole body (you get the drift!)

Lipoedema has made all my goals unachievable. I have been able to lose weight going to the gym but I have never been able to maintain a steady weight. I am one of those people who have always exercised with a weight or appearance goal in mind. I would book a holiday and want to look a certain way, be a certain weight. When I would return from my holiday, I was back to what I looked like before I started at the gym. I mean, I still had my strength and fitness, but I never measured my success by how strong or fit I was. I just wanted to be able to fit into my skinny jeans and wear my bikini without any cellulite showing when I walked.

I have never been very consistent with my training. Last year was the first year that I worked out to not look a certain way. I attended a yoga class 1-2 times per week to focus on connecting my mind to my body, deep breathing and helping my lymphatics. I lifted weights to get strong especially after I broke my arm, but I never pushed myself.

Over the Christmas period I realised how doing something everyday has a great impact. Doing some kind of movement really helped with the appearance of my body. I have for many years really thought there was no point in trying so hard because I couldn't see the results. I didn't looked toned and I don't think I ever will, but I did notice that I wasn't holding as much fluid. And that is because our lymphatic system does not have an internal pump. We need to help pump the lymph, we do that by moving our bodies.

I have set a goal for my 35th Birthday. OMG I am turning 35!!! Ready.....I will be able to do a pistol squat by June 9th. Google a pistol squat so you can see exactly what it is, and to all the girls out there that can already do this exercise. AH-MAZING!

I encourage you to set a non weight and appearance related goal that your legs will love.
